Senior Google Cloud Engineer
Job Overview:
- The Senior Google Cloud Engineer will play a strategic and hands-on role in helping
customers establish strong cloud foundations on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), modernise existing applications, and accelerate adoption of cloud-native engineering practices.
- This role combines deep technical engineering capability with architecture guidance, advisory responsibilities, and platform enablement. The successful candidate will work closely with cloud, data, software engineering, and customer teams to design scalable, secure, resilient, and operationally mature cloud environments.
- The role requires strong experience in Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, modern
application architectures, Kubernetes and container platforms, cloud-native development
patterns, and enterprise cloud governance.
- The engineer will guide teams on best practices
related to platform engineering, automation, operational excellence, security, observability,
and modern software delivery.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and support secure and scalable Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
- Establish and maintain cloud foundations, landing zones, and governance standards.
- Guide customers and internal teams on cloud-native development and application modernisation.
- Advise engineering teams on best practices related to architecture, automation, scalability, security, reliability, and operational excellence.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.
- Support Kubernetes and container-based platforms and deployments.
- Collaborate closely with Cloud, Data, and Code teams across customer engagements.
- Assist with architecture reviews, technical solutioning, and implementation guidance.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation, observability, monitoring, and platform engineering
practices.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to capability development within the organisation.
Must-Have Experience:
• 5+ years of cloud engineering or platform engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience designing and implementing cloud foundations and enterprise cloud
environments.
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container platforms.
• Experience modernising applications and enabling cloud-native development
practices.
• Strong understanding of networking, IAM, cloud security, monitoring, and
operational best practices.
• Experience working in customer-facing or consulting environments.
• Ability to guide architecture discussions and technical decision-making.
Advantageous:
• Multi-cloud experience across AWS and/or Azure.
• Experience with platform engineering and SRE practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tooling and GitOps practices.
• Experience with data platforms, analytics, or AI/ML workloads.
• Google Cloud certifications.
• Kubernetes certifications (CKA / CKAD).
• Experience in financial services or enterprise environments.
• Experience with observability tooling such as Grafana, Prometheus, or Datadog.
