Senior Product Owner
Are you an experienced Product Owner looking for an opportunity to help build something from the ground up?
We are looking for a self-motivated, ambitious and experienced Senior Product Owner to join the founding team of an exciting new fintech venture focused on sustainability and ESG data.
This is a unique opportunity to join a growing venture at an important stage of its journey — helping take an existing MVP into a scalable, market-ready platform and supporting its expansion across South Africa and Africa.

The platform is an innovative sustainability data and ESG platform that enables private companies to measure, track and improve their performance across areas such as:

The long-term vision is to establish the platform as a standardized ESG data and reporting solution for private companies across Africa.
The Opportunity
As a founding team member, you will play a key role in shaping the product roadmap, driving product discovery and delivery, and helping scale the platform from MVP to an enterprise-ready solution.
You will work closely with Product Design, Business Analysis, Architecture, Engineering and Sustainability teams, while engaging with clients and senior stakeholders to ensure the product delivers real user and commercial value.
Responsibilities
- Own and prioritize the product backlog and roadmap
- Translate business, client and stakeholder requirements into clear epics, user stories and sprint priorities
- Lead product discovery alongside the Product Designer
- Engage with users and stakeholders to validate needs and test assumptions
- Drive delivery across cross-functional product and technology teams
- Balance user needs, technical feasibility and commercial priorities
- Define and track product success measures
- Support the evolution from MVP to a scalable, enterprise-ready platform
- Translate complex sustainability, compliance and reporting requirements into practical product functionality
- Provide delivery timelines, rollout plans and progress updates
- Feed client and stakeholder insights into the product roadmap
- Support go-to-market activities and future market expansion
Sustainability & ESG
You don’t need to be an ESG expert from day one.
You will have the opportunity to build your knowledge of ESG frameworks, climate data and sustainability standards, working alongside subject matter experts to translate complex sustainability concepts into meaningful digital products.
What We’re Looking For
- 5–10 years’ experience as a Product Owner
- Experience working on complex digital products or platforms
- Strong product ownership, prioritization and roadmap experience
- Comfortable working with clients and senior stakeholders
- Experience working across multidisciplinary technology teams
- Strong understanding of Agile product development
- Curious and motivated to develop expertise in ESG and sustainability
- Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
- Strong interest in technology and AI-enabled product development
- A hands-on mindset with the ability to turn ideas into delivered outcomes
