Role: Data Migration Project Manager

NB: Available to start immediately

  • The ideal consultant will be responsible for managing the planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting of the data migration workstream. They will ensure that deliverables are met on time, risks are mitigated, and dependencies are managed. The role requires a strong mix of project management discipline and data migration knowledge, as well as experience working with complex banking or financial services data environments.

Project Overview:

  • We are undertaking a large-scale data migration as part of an acquisition program. The Data Migration Project Manager will play a critical role in managing and coordinating the end-to-end migration of customer, account, and product data between systems. This role will support the Data Migration Lead and ensure that project governance, planning, execution, and risk management are properly managed.

Project Management & Governance:

  • Develop and maintain the data migration project plan, RAID logs, and status reports.
  • Work closely with the Data Migration Lead, IT teams, and business stakeholders to ensure smooth execution.
  • Ensure that project activities align with overall program objectives and timelines.
  • Enforce structured governance, documentation, and reporting processes.
  • Identify risks and issues early, propose mitigations, and escalate when necessary.
  • Track progress and manage dependencies between different business and technical teams.
  • Compile reporting for program governance structures.

Data Migration Execution:

  • Support the Data Migration Lead in defining migration approaches, cutover plans, and data validation strategies.
  • Work with data engineers, business analysts, and IT teams to ensure data mapping, transformation, and reconciliation processes are well managed.
  • Coordinate data validation, reconciliation, and testing cycles to ensure data accuracy post-migration.
  • Ensure that all data migration activities comply with regulatory and compliance requirements.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management:

  • Engage with key stakeholders, including business, IT, operations, and external vendors, to align on data migration progress and dependencies.
  • Manage interactions with external data migration vendors or consultants, ensuring contract deliverables are met.
  • Drive meetings, working sessions, and reporting forums with the wider program team.

Experience & Skills:

  • 8+ years of experience in project management, with at least 3+ years in data migration projects.
  • Strong background in structured project management disciplines (PMI, Prince2, Agile, or hybrid).
  • Experience in data-related projects, including data migration, data governance, or system implementations.
  • Financial services or banking industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong understanding of data quality, reconciliation, and migration governance.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including business, IT, and data specialists.
  • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders, drive decisions, and work within a structured governance framework.

Soft Skills:

  • Highly organized, structured, and disciplined in project execution.
  • Strong communication skills, able to bridge technical and business discussions.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to risk mitigation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines.
